I’ll confess, I love investigating a new product! Combine that with my love for goats and I’ve found my ultimate quest! I’m starting a new series I’m calling ‘My Favorite Things’ where I’ll share the items I love that make life easier on the farm.
I’ve shared links from PBS Animal Health, but you can purchase most of these things from multiple farm vendors, and I’m not endorsing one over the other. I’m not receiving any compensation from this post.
Milking Gloves: Milker’s Helper
The perfect glove for keeping your does clean and healthy while hand milking. They don’t stretch and hurt your fingernails or pull and irritate human or caprine skin.
Teat Dip: Effercept SG
My favorite pre- and post- dip. It comes in tablet for, just dissolve in half a gallon of water (I use an Igloo 1/2 gallon sports jug). It’s super effective, and easy on teats. Also available in a smaller tablet count size, but may take some shopping around to find. Be sure to leave the post-dip on the teat, don’t wipe it off.
Teat Pre-Wipes: Milk Check Teat Wipes
So convenient, and effective at cleaning teats pre-milking.

Teat Dip Cup: Ambic UniDipper Non-Return
I’ve tried all the teat dip cups, this is the best for standard sized does. It fits longer teats, and doesn’t bump on the milk stand.

Everyday Teat Cream: Dyna Mint
The best for udder edema after kidding, and every day use.

Favorite Teat Cream: GEA Active Teat Cream
Pricey, but the manuka honey and iodine work wonders. If I won the lotto, I’d use this every day.
